Does anybody do anything to these heads like springs and valves and all that stuff, I know I can port and polish but where do I get other upgrades for the head, thanks.

not sure mate.

I know gas flowing and porting make a difference to the engines, but as far as anything else goes it's a bit of an unknown.

Don't know if there are any performance camshafts available, which seems to be the easiest way to mod the top end.

cruise in japan make valve springs for the head. very good. can get them for about 200USD,

also TRD make a set of 270 lift cams. but you also need new rockers for it. but they are a bit severe for everyday driving. i also know someone who can source these at about 300usd

or. the cam out of a 5E-FHE is a good little upgrade. make sure its the 5efhe though, the 5efe is the same as the 4efte.

andrew (toyotasera.co.uk) can get these 5efhe cams for about 70 quid if i remember right??

Ferrea Valves in the USA can supply you with valves and you can send your cams to Web Cams to get new ones ground. Ferrea can also supply retainers and valve springs but you will need to send them samples.

what do you do to change the cams to 5efhe ones on a 4efte? is it just a straight swap over or do you need any other parts. also how much diffrence does it make?

as far as im aware its a straight swap. youd need to ask andrew as he knows all the ins and outs of it. it is just a minor upgrade, but will make a difference, it just givesa slightly longer lift.

and tre, check takakaira, they have the cruise springs, or you could ask cruise themselves. www.cruise-power.com

I just want to run about 250hp to the ground, and I just dont want my head to fall apart, and I also figured that I may want to raise the redline a bit. So just looking for what ever I need to do that.

Would suggest porting and polishing the head and a different cam (either regrind yours to a race spec, or using 5E-FHE cams.

You could fit bigger valves but quite expensive. I'd just port/polish the head, cams, and get a better exhaust manifold.

yeah, i agree with andrew, you should be able to get 250 easy with some porting work and some gruntier cams.
