I have had the top end gaskets replaced, the head did not need skimming,

but I am still getting water into the sump, this is occurring when cold and warm,

only a few drops that come from the three small bores, but it contaminates the oil over a period of time, leading to the oil level light coming on, and at worst pushing the oil past the dipstick, (not me), At which the engine gets all lumpy and clouds of gunge get flung out from the exhaust ,

I have to pay the garage yet for the gasket change, (but it has not cured the problem) :crybaby:

has any-one got any tips or advice to pass on, please, :D

oh I have a toyota lucida estima emina X, 2.2td 4wd(at the moment No wheel drive),

My first thoughts are that the head DOES need skimming. or the head gasket has been damaged during refitting. Have you had a compression test done?

Sorry to say the heads can crack on these engines around No4 cylinder. Maybe this is what has happened

hello Daktari,

have been assured by the garage that the head is fine and flat, and that it must be a crack in the head or block, which will prove too expensive to get done,

will speak to the mechanic first thing monday, to see if a compression test was done, :(

thank you, for your suggestions,

what are your second thoughts please ? :D

depends where the crack is but there are specialists that can re weld the heads. or shop round the breakers and see if you can get one from them, but beware theirs may be the same.

thank you dawsey,

where can I find such a specialist ?, it is looking very much like the head is cracked, not spoken to mechanic yet, but I think he's going to use some chemical sealer of some description, just to see if it works. :hokus-pokus:

thank you so much for your input, brian

Got the heap back yesterday, water still getting into the oil, bought some holts wonder weld, am going to try it today, the probs not the head or gasket, could it be a cracked block, will try the sealer first, but I do not hold out much hope.
