What Should I Check Upon Buying A Used Yaris?

Hey all!

I've been wanting a small and economical car for quite some time now, and reached a conclusion, that the Yaris is my best bet! :)

I've come across a used Yaris 1.0Litre (Y2K - Japan made) with the semi-automatic gearbox, no accidents in its record, undergone a reasonable figure on the clock (not too many - not too little) along with treatments "by the book". B)

With that being said, I still prefer to testdrive it and also take a good look to make sure those statements given by the owner are nothing but the whole truth! <_<

I'm also kinda worried as I've heard that the semi-automatic box is not on par with Toyota's image of being reliable more than any manufacturer out there...

This is where you guys come in handy: I need you to tell me what to look for when buying a used Yaris - what should I check out, what can be considered a flaw that can be used to lower the requested price, how to check the engine, etc...

TIA!

There is nothing major to look out for cos the engine's are solid but look for dents and stone chips as that might be the best bet in brinigng their asking price down, I can guarantee therewill be a stone chip on the bonnet!

All the components in a toyota are rock solid really. Only thing is like ryan said... chips and dents, and maybe a few rattles in the cabin, but it's all normal. There really isnt much to worry about at all!
