T-sport Or Gt ? T-sport Hands Down!

I wanna start an argument off. Ive been scanning this site for quite a while now and have noticed the alarming lack of T-sport owners and an even more alarming number of T-Sport knockers, WHY!! :censor: !!!!!

Dont get me wrong guys the GT's a great looking car, in fact every Celica has been fantastic to date. Im so glad that I decided to say F**k it and splash out on a Spanking new T-sport last year cos its amazing and even more of an amazing head turner. So GT owners, why are you knocking it and would you ever consider getting a T-sport in the future when the prices come down??

Be honest with me people

I like the shape of my Celi and not the T-Sport

Simple

T sports are very common and not a real head turner. imo.

And I dont want one ever.

The GT-R is perfect in every way.

Ash.

ah c'mon yous are crazy, the gen7 is the celica for the naughties, the gen6 looks too much like an old hyundai coupe, can't really say much about the gen5. Im sure they are both great cars but i don't how you cant look at a gen7 and think its stunning, all be it they are a bit common on the road

the gen 7 190 hints of the exterior styling of the gen 4, but imho it just hasnt the look of a proper coupe.

I dont like the interior.

its not put together well.

its slower than all of my cars.

it costs, new, the same price as a ST205 and a ST185 and a ST165 put together - so i ask all, would you rather have a 190 or all of the GT4's?

but thats not practical, so - would you rather have a 190 or a ST205 and spend the rest on mod's?

I like the gen 7's and I would have a T-sport, but I prefer the Gen 6's they just look so much better - as soon as reliability starts to be a major problem with the gen6 I will move to the Gen7 (or maybe find a low mileage, well looked after gen6??)

I wouldn't say anything bad about the gen 7, but I think Toyota had it spot on when they designed the gen6

Well, I'm in the process of moving from the best car I have ever owned - A Gen 5 GT  to a Gen 7 190.

Everyone has their favourite Celica no doubt but unfortunately times have to move on and Toyota can't continue one line for ever no matter how good it is/was.

When the Gen 7 came out in '99 I thought it was awful looking but now - I'm getting one. It feels and looks drastically different to my 5 but that's to be exected. I will miss my 5 and thank it for it's loyalty and superb performance.

At the end of the day I still have a car made by an excellant car manufacturer.

I'm not into racing my car ( a cheeky burst now & then maybe) so a few horses under the bonnet don't worry myself too much. I could have gone and got a Skyline or Supra or sometthing like that but for my own reasons I chose the 190.

Long live the CELICA..........

There's no replacement for displacement. ;)

Except, maybe, a supercharger!

Personally I'm quite happy with 160 hp @ 6000 rpm, rather than 190 hp at 9000. There's more to engine performance than peak hp figures. Oh, and the fact that my car cost about a fifth of the price of a second hand gen 7 190!

There's nothing 'wrong' with the gen 7, it's great at what it does. But Toyota moved the goalposts since they stopped worrying about rally homologation.

Ash, I take it you still have your Celica then? I guess it must be all fixed by now?

Yes she is mate, and running like a dream with the help and advice of Richard (boyfriend) in the end I had to get another engine from Fennies and she was up and running within a week.

I take her to the garage nearly every week for a check up. I get so paranoid at every new noise I hear .lol. and it dont cost t a thing. thank god.lol.

the gen6 looks too much like an old hyundai coupe

Are you sure its not the other way round? :D

The gen 6 came out in 94. Where were Hyundai then?

celica for the naughties,

I'm an anti naughties car person. I think all recent cars seem to be either too lardy, far too high or too plasticky.

Its not just the celica, its all new cars. I'm going to buy 90's cars for as long as is practical. The Gen 6 GT also has a 3rd gen 3SGE in it. Tried and tested. The new celicas aren't curvy enough either.

And no gen 7 GT4. No turbo. No rally heritage. No love :crybaby:

ah c'mon i was only trying to keep it going, i never prefer a hyundai to any of the celicas, i suppose you can call it flattery that they decided to copy the gen6 for their own coupe. I still think the gen7 is the best lookin, but i do admit they could do with a proper high spec model like a gt4. you never know a turbo might still come, diesel that is :(

Need Turbo, with 4WD! Proper celica!

So true :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Unfortunately, I don't think they'll ever make another 4wd celica. And theres not much point trying to put turbo power through the front wheels (ala Focus RS). I don't think the 1zz-fe engines would be very receptive to turbo charging anyway, they are already quite revvy. Supercharging might be a better option though, and I think Blitz do a kit.

I believe they are working on a new supra, which will be the flagship of the range. It is rumoured to have the lexus v8 engine, so even that is unlikely to have a turbo version. The trouble for Toyota is that they don't want top end Badge Toyota's treading on the toes of there finely groomed Lexus branding.

All versions of Celica are good looking (and a least Toyota kept the 'Celica' name going, unlike Ford Europe and Opel which dropped there coupe names such as 'Capri' and 'Manta').

As for my favorite ...1st Gen RA 28 liftback ...the 'baby Mustang'
