Yaris Top Speed

Anything above 70mph GPS (76mph speedo) just doesn't feel safe in my yaris (with TTE lowered springs as standard).

The car goes all wobbely and feels that I could be in the side of the road at any time. The steering at 70mph is pants, as I can't feel the road and the steering becomes so light it's like driving on ice!

Wind is a problem too when cars over take me at high speeds ..... pulls me all over the place.

The yaris just doesn't feel safe at high speeds - and that's probably because it wasn't meant too  !

My brakes aren't to good either - I think I need to get them checked/upgraded!

Think you need your tracking and wheel balance checking matey!

Mine's fine above 70mph (not that I do that sort of thing on public roads) The steering weights up well and there's plenty of feel about it. Ok, it's not what you'd call 'surefooted' but it's not scary and never feels dangerous... it's one hand on wheel, elbow on window sill easy for me.

It is affected by strong winds tho... any car that high sided will be though.

My brakes too are getting poorer each day... upgrade time!

Strutbraces and brake upgrades folks - every so often I get the chance to drive a standard yaris and think .... no, I couldnt go back.

First impressions of Kates MR2 - great car - now lets get it braced up and sort the brakes ...

Fair play mate, bang for buck - strutbraces and goodrich brake lines are the most effective mods.

Ive only really been seriously modding for the past year - it kind of all happens at once if you know what I mean?

I had a genuine hospital run today in my power-box'd D-4D (2003) (with acetone in the fuel) and had to shift on a v quiet motorway.

I happened across a '55 Cupra 1.9 TDi ( a fine motor) and for whatever the reason , its driver was going flat out. The Cupra was able to pull away a bit quicker, the rate of difference being slow, just about a walking speed. But reaching flat out both cars were even and neither was any faster. My tacho' showed 5200 rpm. I know tha Cupra is a faster car at stock settings.

Also not advocating unneccessary top-speeds, but it does show tuning boxes enhance top-end too and felt I'd post this out of interest.

Well...................after dragging up a thread that is over a year old..............you go on to brag about speeding on a public road.

Did you not read the forum rules.......or in fact Kimi's post a few before yours warning about such posts.

Save it for the track.....................or risk a banning from these forums
