48511-20090 comes up as fitting the TT132, RT132, and RT133 Corona. Don't have any listings at all for any RT134 Coronas.

*sob* I miss my RT105... :( (I know, not relevant, but I had to say it)

Let's give you dudes some images, too ;)

Leaking shocks...

A little...

...rust here! :-/

General view 2

Looking sharp, no rust here!

Almost perfect paint under the dirt! :o

Full of emptiness

Whoops...

...need to replace. (What is this part in english, joint?)

Well, the restoration has begun. A lot of work to do even though this is a very good-conditioned car.

What year is your Corona?

When I read your first post I thought it looked in great condition but as always with an old car you start one job and find theres more to do.

It's 1980. Actually, it IS in great condition, at least if you compare it against the regular cars here in Finland with same age.

However, there's always something to do and actually it looks worse in pictures. Wait until I get the parts painted...

That is fantastic

Have you done all that work outside? ...you must have good weather

What it appears to be is that the body Shell of your car is very good but ancessory/suspension parts have rusted very bad.

Have you managed to get spare parts for it ok (are brake and suspension parts still easily available).

Keep the pictures coming as this is proving at interesting restoration (it's nice to see pictures of someone doing restoration/saving a normal car)

Yiep, it's summer here now. We haven't had much of rain lately and because this is just a hobby, I don't want to do this every day so if it rains, I can easily find something else to do... :D

Yes, this car has been imported from U.S. in 1982 and it has been rust-protected then. That's why the body is OK but the suspension parts are all gone. I have had almost no problems finding parts, the only parts I haven't got are the back plates of the front brakes. I'll try to build them from Corolla Trueno plates.

Thanks, nice to have some comments, finally :P

BTW, here are some pictures from yesterday - I received a new set of parts from my local Toyota dealer... There are also pictures of newly painted parts. Unfortunately some of the paintworks were not prime. :crybaby:

Thats a lot of parts...must be getting expensive

Also with all those nice shinny brake and suspension parts the underside of your car must look amazing (concours even?). If it was my car with all those nice shinny, new, and repainted parts underneath I would be afraid to drive it in bad weather and get the underside dirty  .

This part of has been finished a month ago, and the first 1 000 miles have been driven without any problems. Everything works fine and all the noises have disappeared. The next project is to take the body under work, but I'm going to wait until the winter comes.

All the pictures HERE!

Nice job you are doing there.

Were all them suspension and brake caliper parts under the sea? As I have never seen calipers that bad!

What did you use to paint the parts black? As I'm using POR15 Rust prevention and then POR15 Chasiss paint as ment to be one of the best, but costs quite a bit :(

All the parts were original, 25 years old stuff, that's why all the rust. However, I managed to get all the parts fixed or replaced with new ones so now it really looks cool :)

All the parts were sand blasted (is this the correct term in english?) and painted with podwer paint which is as near the original colour as possible - semi-gloss black. Also, the paint is a little flexible so it should resist the stone hits better than just classic paint with primer.

I only now noticed that the last picture set was missing from server due to breakage of my home PC, I'll try to upload the last picture set from my work laptop asap. Please come back later!

The next project will be the engine. I managed to get a 20R engine gasket set from eBay at a reasonable $56,90 price. Last november I bought a head gasket here from Finland and it cost 90 EUR (extremely expensive parts here)! There also is one rust hole in the right side skirt and I should try to find a spare part so that I could replace the whole skirt. The picture of the rust hole should be in the last picture set.

Please feel free to comment and give me any ideas!

Thanks for reading,

Mika

Those are a fantastic set of pictures.

Will you have to repair the hole for your vehicle regulations test?...do you have any construction and use vehicle examinations in your country?

Yes. I don't think they'll approve the car even if I try to explain that it has been driven for only about 800 miles since last test :P

...do you have any construction and use vehicle examinations in your country?

Yes. New cars have to be examined for the first time in 3 years age, then after 2 years and after that, every year. If I get the car registered as a "museum car" next summer, the examination is once in every second year.

It's been a long time since my last visit. However, I haven't had time to do a lot work with the car...

This spring I started the work again and updated some new pictures to my site. Unfortunately, the car was not so mint as expected, found several rust holes and started fixing them.

I found a new carb from eBay and it was cheaper than buying a repair kit from a local dealer

I also bought a new fuel pump, parking lamps and the chain kit for the engine.

Still searching for new (or mint) rear lights, side marker lights and license plate lights.
