Wish List And Nice Surprises

Everyone knows about the fuel consumption, silent electric-only driving, minimal CO2 emissions and government grant, but what about the other things that make driving the Prius enjoyable or seem bewildering by their absence?

Here's what I think Toyota could have done to make the experience even more enjoyable:

> enable all touch-screen controls when there is a passenger in the car (which it already knows because it tells them off for not wearing a seatbelt!)

> provide electronically retractable wing mirrors

> automatically lock the doors after setting off

> cover all the windscreen with the wipers (and not miss the top left corner)

> hinge the rear window wiper on the other side (or even better, in the middle)

> increase/decrease the stereo volume with acceleration/deceleration

> provide voice-activated commands for the telephone (eg call home, work etc)

> driving positions set to user profiles so that the seat, mirrors etc automatically move into the desired position for each driver (my sister's car does this and is connected to the key so when she unlocks the car it sets to her settings, and when her husband uses his key it sets to his. How cool is that?)

> link the sat nav to traffic master fro details of roadworks, accidents etc

> increase the mpg scale maximum to above 99.9 (how about 999.9??)

and some nice little touches that I didn't expect, but raised a smile anyway:

> the 'inverted colours' for the sat nav at night (when you turn 'day mode' off)

> four colours for the screen (although grey and beige really are too foul to use)

> the cubby hole for sunglasses by the rear view mirror...

> ...and the other one below the stereo

> the driver and passenger reading lights

> four (yes, four) jets of water come out of each windscreen wash 'thingy'

> being able to feed all CDs through just one slot (and not having to faff around in the boot or glove box)

What do you wish Toyota had included (or are glad that they did)?

I would have liked them to improve the trip computer functions - lifetime average mpg so that the figure is not always changing so rapidly. Range on current fuel would also be good plus average speed etc.

Right then.....

- Reversing camera....we have the screen already.

- Light sensor on the LCD so it dims or brightens dependant on ambient lighting

- The auto folding mirrors as already stated

- Heated mirrors

- Passenger/diver climate control

- Kebab machine :D
