Fitting Cd Changer To Avensis 2001

Guys, please help.

I've got a Sony T62 changer and an interface box for my car, an 01 Avensis GS.

1 big question. The wiring loom to the sat nav in the boot has a spare plug which I assume is for the Toyota after fit changer. Now this has 8 pins top 5 pins bottom however all the aftermarket interfaces have 7 top and 5 bottom. I pulled out the central console and to the rear of my W53804 cd player is a 7 top 5 bottom!!

Question is twofold. Is this boot plug indeed for a changer and if so why the difference in plug patterns?

Secondly if it is can i match up the wires of the loom to the wires from the interface box (presumably all colour coded to connect it?

Many thanks guys.

P.S. any general tips in fitting it would be appreciated.

I have a Avensis Wagon D-4D (feb. 2002) with a Sony T70MX 6CD MP3 player connected to the main unit with a Connect2 interface. In my rememberance this was just plug and play. If I recall correctly the interface had a male and a female connector to plug it between the main unit and a existing loom. Connect the Sony to the Interface and you will have a second CD player when you press the CD button (once or twice, depending if it was on the internal CD unit or not). Only this new one has a CD-number in front of the track number.

I fitted the CD changer under the passenger seat , like the TNS300 Satnav under the drivers seat. So no boxes in sight or taking usable space. Do not forget to disconnect the Battery before you remove a frontseat with side-airbags like my car has. Chances are that you will be blown away by it when you disconnect the chair-loom if still on Battery power.

Best regards,

Victor

Many thanks victor

I have fitted it and made a homemade fly lead for the sat nav cables.

I am trying to fit it under the seat too and will try and do it without unplugging the seat .

Cheers
