1996 Camry Question

Greetings to members ! This is my first post here, hope to learn and also add to

topics as they come along. I just purchased a 1996 4cyl automatic for my daughter. I'm driving it for a few days to see what quirks may exist. First question is, is it normal for vehicle to vibrate at idle? Steering wheels has minor shake and slight noise exists. Shifting to neutral helps a bit, but does not eliminate the noise. Accelerating away from stop light stops the noise, but it's back again

next light. Prior owner was pretty careful of the outside/interior of the vehicle, but

mechanical care is unknown. Oil appear to be pretty dirty, air filter looks ok.

Wondering if motor mounts are ok or if throttle body needs cleaning to help idle.

Anyway, hoping to benefit from others knowledge in this area.

For a start a full tuneup(NGK BKR6E copper plugs, NGK TE62 wires, and a good cap and rotor, like Bosch or Denso) new fuel filter, and a bottle of a good fuel system cleaner would be an idea. better change that oil too!! (though this isn't really related to your problem). use a good filter like a Wix or Purolator (or a Toyota/Nippon/Denso 90915-YZZA2). I like to use Pennzoil or Castrol GTX oil.

www.sparkplugs.com is the cheapest place to get the plugs and wires, and they do excellent service.

My '96 Cam is *very* sensitive to changes in it's ignition system, and tends to act like yours if it needs new wires(it goes through cheap ones very quickly, the NGKs not as much)
