Hi guys, Merry Christmas to you all.

I am purchasing some 17'' BSA Cobra alloys from my mate with 205/40 tyres. Just want to know what I will have to do to get them to fit ok without any rubbage.

Also, will I still be to fit a 35/40mm suspension kit after they have been fitted?

Cheers,

Al

try one on your car easy , doubt they will rub with 40's on .lowering the car with bigger rims on is easier on the car not bottoming out.

yep.

to roll my arches i used a curved panel beating dolly to carefuly tap up the lip after waring up the paint to prevent it cracking. tap it up a bit at a time and its sweet

Thanks for the info, I think il get a body shop to do the work. Do you need to use spacers to clear the rear shocks or do the 205/40/17s fit fine?

Al

depends on the offset of the rim, i have OZ superleggera's on and there is about 5mm between the sidewall and strutcase and about 3mm between the top of the tyre and the bottom of the spring platform.

best bet is ask if the supplier will trial fit one for you to check

Merry christmas and happy new year to you all,

The answer is simply 195/40/17 tyres with a 38mm o/s will not rub!

205/40/17 tyres with a 38mm o/s rub!!!

But with lowered shocks and springs IE Gmax supersport kit i have NO rubbing on my 205/40/17!!!!!

Hope this helps guys

Thanks for the info Saxokiller,

This is unfortunate news because I am supposed to be buying some BSA cobra 5 spokes with 205/40s from my mate for £265 and now i wont be able too :crybaby: I cant afford the lowering kit i want at the moment(koni adjustable shocks and spring kit £319) but i need some new wheels because the insane F*** wit who fitted the 15 '' alloys on the rolla before i bought it used the wrong type of alloys and hes fitted 2 pairs of spacers on the rear whicj gives me no thread play at all. The car has been to 2 garages and they have warned me not to corner too sharply, its a real pain the ***** because i just spent £150 on new tyres lol

Regards,

Alex

Trust me when i say its get yourself down too your local Ripspeed Dept and grab a set of ripspeed osaka 17 inch bare alloys a set of for will cost you about 200 quid and these can be fitted with the cheaper 205/40/17 coz they have a 37mm o/s only one mm i know but they dont rub! and they look the nutz!!!!

check mind out on www.twincam.org and search my user name saxokiller

Thanks, the rims look good, but I would like some 5 spoke 17s and I wouldnt want to copy your choice of wheels, as I have a white GTi too :), il see what other cheap alloys they do, maybe they have some 5 spokes with the same offset.

Alex
