Hi Guys/gals I'm New to this site

My steerings been making a really funny grating noise when turned.Toyota Diagnosed it as a split in my Power Steering pump!!!(it's done 58000 on the clock)He said it's only small, but i will have to eventually replace it.Then he casually quoted me £598 inculding VAT and Labour!!!Does anyone know if you can get them cheaper than this??

And sods law the front passenger side tyres flat now,it must be a puncture, because i only just checked the pressure.I'm in two minds as whether to get the tyre replaced by toyota or by a used tyre garage.I don't always feel at ease with some backstreet mechanics!Anyone know of any reliable guys in the Rochdale area?.

The other thing thats been happening is the needle that lets you know when you cars warmed(Temperature Gauge?) up creeps up to the 'red' bit when im on the M62. Any clues?

I always THINK Toyota are the best ones to go to when i need a car problem fixing,as i don't know masses about cars..mechanics could probably feed me a pack of lies and i'd fall for it!Problem is Toyota are sooo expensive!Have people on here had just as good results going to other mechanics?

I know...Lots of questions on my first 'topic'!!

Any help would be great.Fell free to send constructive replies to my email.

Cheers

M ;)

Hi,

The problem you have with your steering is the Steering Rack....its a common fault with the Avensis.....i too have the same problem, the best way to do it is (if you have a mechanic friend) take off your stering rack and take it to a steering rack specialists and they will recondition it for you, it will be just as good as Toyota and will be less than Toyota's Price!!...
