Advice On New Twinny

I was wondering if you guys give me some advice. Tomorrow morning I am going to see another GTI (Ae92) might be sellin my old one, the person I spoke to did say the car would need some work. I know Rust will be a problem as it is a common problem especially on arches, sunroof. Tailgate etc. Thing is when I bought my black one it was mint so didn’t have to worry.

And most importantly how do I know to walk away if the work is too much e.g.

Sills are rusted? Can they be replaced? how much?

Rust on the chassis?

Engine and Interior should not be too much of a problem compared to rust.

Any sort of advice will appreciated thanks a lot

Cheers

Bash

I could be here for days explaining what to check etc, but here is a simple way of putting it, if it is worse than yours then dont buy it! :)

And why do you want to sell yours if it is a minter??

rust is the only thing that would stop me buying a car.replacing interior , engine susp. breaks is easy. especially if you were going to do them anyway

Thing is money is tight at the minute,

I know I could sell mine for more money since mine only has small blisters on the sunroof.

I could pay a couple of bills off and with the money and buy a runabout twinny

if you're just buying it as a runaround anyway, surely the rust wont matter that much - as long as its got a longish MOT, and the sills aren't completely rotten. if you don't intend keeping it, why bother tarting it up? but like most things, it depends who you know - but obviously bodywork is usually expensive
