i have an ae101 20v.(the model that replaced your car.)

supposedly has 165 hp which is bs. closer to 140 i think.

really only about 110 at the wheels although ive never dynoed it.

i was a bit dissapointed with its performance.dont get me wrong,

im a toyota man through and through, but how can a 4age with uprated

internals,high compression ratio,5 valves per cylender,vvt

and !Removed! throttle bodies as standard, trail behind the vtec power wise????

i have looked on the net many times for performance stats for my car.

i could never find them.at a guess,i would say 0-60...8 seconds.

maybe better with a good launch.

while i'm on the subject...some one told me before that the ae101 is

actually lighter than the ae92.anyone know the facts???

btw, sorry for not listing out figures.im only familiar with fx 20v.

maybe someone else could give you a rundown on the supercharged ae101.

i think these 2 corollas are valid for comparison with ae92 gti 16,as they

all use the 4age.ae111 is also valid comparison.

cts is a whole new breed of performance corolla

after the AE92, there was never a performance corolla officially imported to england. the 20v AE101 and the supercharged version were jap only. then it was the CTS

Thanks guys, but what about the AE101 GXi model? ..isnt that sporty? and what are those G6,G6R models? they have 6 speed boxes, surely they go quite well?

Al

G6R was a sporty model having the 1.6ltr engine the G6 only had the 1.3 i think. the GXi wasnt bad isuppose too.

std kerb weight gor an AE-92 is 1011kg i believe.

but for a proper performance model the AE-92 was the last before the CTS as all the other uk corollas were down on power due to emision legislation

i wouldnt consider any corolla sporty unless it had a 4age.even if it does

have a six speed box. the afe engines are built for economy. imho

the 1.8 gxi might be a bit nippy, but is not a performance car.despite having

the largest petrol engine up untill the cts :thumbsup:
