Alarm Problems

I have an Avensis gls V reg. The alarm has started to develop a fault. At all times the red led does not light up. At best the car will lock and unlock with the key and remote fob, however most other times the car will lock with the fob but will not unlock with the fob. When driving, you can hear the mechanism in the doors trying to unlock, however all the doors will be unlocked. On setting the alarm the indicators flash twice (should only be once), on unsetting the indicators flash twice (correct). I have had the car in the garage today and left it running for some time with the blowers on hot. Believe it or not the alarm worked perfectly, but after it had cooled down after an hour, it was back to its old tricks. It has got the Toyota garage baffled.

Any help and advise would be greatly appreciated.
