:help: My wife has a 1.6 exec auto and it has the most niggling fault. :(

The car has only done a sensible 61k and ran well up to 2 weeks before xmas :ffs: typical.

After a full service to try and resolve the problem i was advised a new carb was needed. :(

Put a good carb on (from scrapper) and it ran better however didnt resolve problem. :ffs:

The car starts ok and runs great on motorway , but as soon as its in traffic its hell. When accelerating at setting off from a standstill the car BURBLES as though its fuel starved or flooding. Take your foot off accelerator and then try again its ok. Also same thing happens when you leave it in gear if in traffic then go to start off .

Any one had any similar probs or ideas because im just about to eat my haynes manual :unsure:

cheers

How's the fuel fuel filter, fuel lines and fuel pump?

This sounds like the float bowl is unable to fill up rapidly enough when you push the throttle.

Cheers, Yves.

I use to be a mechanic and have replaced the Corolla carbs with a Weber conversion, its a much cheaper option ,than a new Toyota carb.

You say you have fitted a 2nd hand carb , i would think it has the same worn out problem as your original one .
