Chrome Tail Piece

help iwant to take my old tail piece off my standard backbox cos it startin to rust around the edge any idears how to get it off

If it's a chrome tail piece it should have about 2 - 4 holes for allen keys, you need to unscrew these and it should come off, but if it's rusting you may have to apply a bit of force just incase it's rusted itself on.

its the standard tail piece that come from the factory it look as though its spot welded on

if it's spot welded on you will have a bit of trouble getting it off,

I doubt you will be using the tail piece again as it's rusty, you will need to try and brake the weld,

either get a big pair of mole grips or something similar and try and twist it off to snap the weld,

get a screwdriver and hammer the weld to try and brake it to brake the weld or you may have to cut it off, hacksaw grinder.

without seeing it I can't tell, the weld could still be to strong to brake, you'll just have to try.

chrome can rust but stainless shouldnt

I make sure it’s given a clean and wiped down after I wash the car, may give it some metal polish when it gets warmer. I think if you keep on top of it, it may last longer.

Anyone know how i can shine up my oe tali pipe finish on my t sport?, its a bit tacky now!

Yes... wash it, get a stiff brush on it to get rifd of all the black burnt bits and the soot, then put normal car polish on it, wash it again and then use silver/chrome polish on it and it will shine beautiful!

its only a cheap crap thing, and its not proper chrome palte or it wouldnt rust.
