Catalyst

How many catalyst's are on a turbo?? im sure i saw pictures of a backbox with a catalyst at the back , but i also seen details of primary catalysts near the downpipe... So does the turbo have a primary and secondary?

Last question  IF i get my catalyst Gutted/Removed Will this give me bhp gains or does a downpipe replace the catalyst anyway ?

afaik only california (or maybe all US 2's) have 2 cats due to emmision laws, we get away with just needing one :D

most downpipes incl. aussie replace the cat pipe with a straight through pipe, gain is about 10-15bhp but more noticable is the almost instant spool up time

Thanks for the reply, Is it possible to get a different downpipe? one that doesnt replace the cat? just a thought cause if i need my cat back in for any reason ie some mot garage, id have to take the downpipe out and put the cat back in and old downpipe.

Would it not be better to get a downpipe that connects to cat? and just get a decat

OR have i confused everyone :!Removed!:

You will only need the cat for the mot if the car is first registered after april 1993 ( i think its april!)

Is it?

It is possible... Have a look on mtte site, maybe something on there?

Why are you so keen to keep it? the car is old enough not to need it...

My car is post 93 and it doesnt need a cat.

Thats because it not on the DVLA's database to be tested.

well thats what the MOT centre told me anyway.

The aussie dump pipe is the way to go

hope you like flames though

Although i've been told it doesnt make every car flame, just seems to be mine

im just gonna gutt the cat...

Personally i dont see the point , because as soon as u get a downpipe

it replaces the cat anyway

P.S. i shrunk it right down, but it should still be readable, if not i'll post a larger version on...
