Tyre Prices Can You Beat Them

Hi,

Well decided to keep the STD alloys for a while reason being two fold, I have lowered and adjustable suspension which is set on the middle setting, the ride is how shall we say hard to say the least and putting 17'' on may shake me kidneys out. ;)

I also do not want any new alloys getting salted in this weather so if I change them I will do this in the summer time.

I am however going to have to re-shoe these and my tyre choices are:

Hankooks Ventus K102

Toyo Proxes T1-S

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions

So ive priced these tyres up and these are the best prices I can find, can anyone beat them if so by how much and who's supplying them?

4X Hankooks £217.20

4X Toyo’s £325

4X Bridgestone’s £350.80

Cheers Dave

Hi,

I need to re-shoe my std 15 alloys and these tyres seem as good and in some cases better than others:

Hankooks Ventus K102

Toyo Proxes T1-S

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions

So ive priced these tyres up and these are the best prices I can find, can anyone beat them if so by how much and who's supplying them?

Also open to other tyre makes and models but would appreciate prices as well please

Cheers Dave

I have only enquired about 16" 225/45 SO3's

Micheldever tyres will do a Pair fitted, balanced, valves + VAT for £218

After lots of question asking, I've concluded the SO3's are the best tyres for the MR2.

Looked there but found mytyres a lot cheaper,

After all of the read ups ive seen the Bridgestone's trance the competition and come out a way better that the Toyo's but I have not tried either and with there only being a £25 difference I would go S-03's myself.

Hi,

I think I will push the boat out and go with the Bridgestones as they have excellent wet and dry qualities.

I may even get the car to drive in a strait line!!!!!!!!!! :D

Hi,

Which Nankangs have you got? as I have the EX500's on the rear and they are nearly new but in the wet its like driving with slicks or on ice, I cannot go at any speed as ive spun her and now I just dont trust the tyres.

Hi,

Could be the heavy boot syndrome but the way the tyres twitch even when not boosting I feel its more tyre related, I will be glad to get them off me car mate.

A mate of mine has the Bridgestones on his Scooby. To be honest with you, they are quite a hard compund and so take rather a long time to warm up, hence lot's of sliding especially in the wet.

He is looking to replace his with Goodyear Eagle F1's, which I have just had put on my Soop and to be honest with you, they are very good, wet or dry!!

I'd be interested in others opinions on this, but I am happy extremely happy with my set!!

F1s are crap for trackdays because they melt....

may have a limited experirnce having only driven a few different performance cars in my past ( about 10 ranging from mk2 escorts with pinto to a quick blast around the IOM tt course in an old testarossa (excuse my spelling)) have also done a but of stock car racing in my hayday usually sierras... i find michelin pilot sports to be a fantastic tyre all round .. sticks like glue but will still test a drivers ability if they try to push too hard ( always fun finding your own limits AND the cars limits)

always take time to discover both if you do not want to be the cause of a pile up

A guy that works for Jet tyres recomended I use Goodyear F1's for road use , going by the weight of the car apparently, He seemed to know his stuff , but then again he might just have a job lot he needs to get shut of

I need a new set soon so if anyone else has the Goodyear F1's , would be nice to know what they think of them

nankangs are crap in the wet on a rw motor - not recommended , specially on a turbo = bad news.common knowledge

i have nankangs on the back of my standard 15's they seem ok. I must admit it can be twitchy if you dont bear in mind its a rwd turbo and the roads are wet. I put it down to the type of car rather than the tyres.

I hava avons on my other wheels but they havent been out in the wet so i cant really comment.

In my opinion tyres are tyres there all the same to me but i know im probley on my own hear but unless your talking about taking your car round silverstone i dont think it matterss as long as you have tread on them.

pp - I thought the same thing thing until a couple of months ago. But since I replaced my Uniroyals (look, the owner before me put them on, I had them for two months) with the Goodyears I have noticed a hell of a difference.

I know hard and soft compunds have a lot to do with it, with the softer compund getting ready quicker, but it would explain their performance on tracks. The Bridgestones are a hard compound and so if unless the tyres are warmed up, the grip isn't all going to be there.
