Dust Arrester - What Is It?

As title - does anybody know what a dust arrester is?

Going through some old service receipts from Toyota, I notice all of them have dust arrester listed. It is only a cheap part, a few pounds if that.

FYI, these receipts are from the previous owner hence me not knowing what they are.

Thanks,

Gareth.

A bit of google-ing has not turned up much, but some results referred to a dust arrester as an aid to preventing build up of brake dust, but not necessarily on cars.

Have I answered my own question?

Anybody else with any ideas?

Hi and welcome to the TOC forums, nice looking SI you have there looking at the pic in the avatar.

No idea what the dust arrester is for, never heard of it. I have to go back to the garage where I purchased my SI from as I found my tailgate was lubricated every service in the receipts to stop a squeaking noise which is now driving me insane lol!

Hi,

I had that same squeaking noise from my tailgate. Turned out the rubber jams on either side have gone a bit hard and shiny. A bit of grease later and the silence is bliss.

I've been following this forum for a while now and recently read that you are selling your Corolla. Sad to see it go, but hope it goes to a good home.

I'll have to try that thanks,

I have attempted just about everything else lol!

Sound proofed everything, clothed jammed through the lock to tighten it up. greased the lock and the hindges lol!

It does it mainly when I take tight corners and sweaks almost when your turning the car as it flexes through the body, so yes that could explain it.

Kev :)
