you have two options...

drop in another n/a/ engine... or drop in a turbo one!!!

When my first mk3's bottom end went I put in a turbo engine...

I sourced all the needed parts for £650, and fitted it myself

more info here.

of course it would be easier fitting another N/A engine, just mak e sure its the same type! (they changed over the years)

try findapart to source an engine.

the other option is to get the current engine reconditioned....haven't got a clue how much this costs, but it saves searching for a suitable replacement

The problem with getting engioes re conditioned is cost, unless you will DIY, or have a mate to do it for free, it probably costs more to rebuild then replace.

last quote I heard was £120 for a crank regrind and reshell, and thats assuming its repairable... ontop of that its the labout of removing and stripping down the engine, new headgasket, headbolts etc...

try Findapart, thats where I got my full conversion kit from for £650.

www.findapart.co.uk

I can supply some of the bits if you need them (auto turbo ECU, boost sensor, and ignitor) but it'll probably be cheaper to get the lot all in one hit as scrappies like a nice barter
