Cd Player In Ae111 Corolla

The standard CD player in my car has stopped working, the radio is fine, but it doesnt play CD's, not a problem as I was goin to buy a new one soon anyway.

However, im not totally sure where to put the new head unit. My current 'CD slot' is located under the heater controls (as in pic) and the pod at the top (not there in pic!) is the control and display unit.

The pre-facelifted ae111 has the head unit in the pod at the top doesnt it??

If so, what do you think would be the better option for me?

a) to get an old pod and put my new head unit in there, then find some sort of blanking plate for the original 'CD slot'

B) to put the head unit in the original place and use the pod as a storage thingy. lol

c) attempt a double DIN solution and get a pre-facelift pod for storage at top??

Any ideas appreciated, thanks

Ross

If money's no object I'd get a double DIN KENWOOD-DDX-7025 £819 and fit it all where the cd player is,

Then use the pod at the top for gauges like AE111SR (I think).

However if money is a factor,

I'd fit a new headunit in the Pod at the top,

Remove your old CD player AND the Small storage box below that.

Then get a Pre-face lift Double DIN size Storage box instead to go above the cup holder.

Cheers the quick reply mate!

£819 is probably a wee bit too pricey at the mo. lol :D

Got to finish uni first!!

But just getting a couple of ideas at the mo, prob get a new headunit sometime through february.

Thanks again

I recon put it where the original CD player was! I find controling my head unit from the pod is 2much effort as its up very high!

Mush easier to control from down by the gearstick!

Im just a lazy ba***rd tho!

Toyota has the controls at the top so you can still use your peripheral vision to drive when looking at the headunit/controls.

The question is would you prefer to have the complete headunit including the controls down there, totally away from your driving line of sight?

If you really wanna go for corollags's option (which might be easier to fit) I'd get a headunit with a remote control then line of sight is not an issue (unless you drop the remote in the footwell ;) )
