well ive had my windows tinted. supposidly by a professional. got it back, and theres bubbles in the back window near to the edge of the film, and in the 2 rear quater panels a few small bubbles near the edge and looks like a couple of creases.

the guy said its just water behind it which hasnt dried and to take it back in 5 to 6 days an he should be able to get them out. is this true or have i been ripped off????

There will always be a minimal amount of bubbles but nothing that stands out too much. When I went back to collect my car I was shocked, thought it looked tacky to start with! But the guy said that it was just the glue/adhesive and it needs a couple of days to tighten up. I couldnt open my window for 5 days but I left it a week. (Pain in the bum at toll bridges!!) But one week later the windows looked totally fine and im very happy with the job!

If it was a proper place that you got them done then the guy should know what he is talking about and things will be ok.

My wife worked for a window filming company for a while - its perfectly normal for auto film to take around a week to 'cure' - by then all bubbles should have gone ...

I reckon its just the glue mate!! Dont open your windows for a wee while as you could dislodge the film and crease it.

Looks nice though!!! Maybe a wee bit dark on the front!! Maybe have a few problems with police.

yeah the guy did say. it is a medium smoke all round, not sure what percentage. i like the look of it, just hoping it settles in ok! the big bubble on the rear is bad though, looks like its peeling off!! still he did say go back on wednesday or thursday and once the water has dried he can file it all again and get rid of bubbles. just hope that does the trick, aint wasting £160!!

Yeah it looks sweet! Do your windows have the dot matrix near the edges? cos that sometimes causes problems with the film sticking.

But anyway, you have the bloke to fall back on so you are covered!!

danny danny danny! thats common for tints, IF YOU AINT AN EXPERT. Mine came back with no bubbles/creases/streaks at all.

However my mates mate, who can DIY tint, did my mates car, and it had the same as that. Good for you though is that it does dry out. But no prof place should leave it like that.

Ps. what colour tints you got? dark smoke?

i went for a medium smoke all round. just a rigth balance. not too dark not too light... 160 was good price i agree. was a place called tint master in liverpool, just looked like some garage! lol. the guy was alright tho, and he has said he will sort out any bubbles and things. he told me not to open the windows for at least 4 days and take it to him a week later so he can give it once over when water has dried out..

as for the bit around the edges, if it dont go away, i may ask him to re-do it. cheap or not, i still paid good money for a professional tint!

Mine were definately not that bad when i collected mine but there were a few minor bubbles. These went without trace within a week. Whatever you do, dont put the heater rear window on for 1 month! well thats what the tinters told me as it will lift around the matrix.

Also dont use any polishes designed for windows as they normally contain amonia. Check if its amonia free before using as the amonia will bleach the tint film very slightly and over a period of a couple of years it will look patchy.

his tints wont be hard to see out of on a nightime!! i could cope with having limo black on mine on the front, its not as bad as people like to think. sure it looks dark on the outside, get inside and have a look on the nightime!

The weather is another thing to take into account

When I took my sister to get her MG done they said it will take up to 4 , 5 days to let it settle , when we had it done it had been raing for the last few days and the weather continued . The guy said that it may take a little longer coz of that . Any probs just come back , the guy said . Well it did settle OK and the streaks and bubbles did go . Be patient with it , it may be OK but if not then go back and get it fixed . Does look nice though , Im due to have the 3 rear ones done on mine . Might go for medium tint or try to get a little dark but not completely blacked out as I still want to see out of them , especially at night. Should watch your front ones though . There is a way round it if you can get the edges of the front windows filed down so that you cant see where they have done it ( usually leaves about 2mm ) Then you can say that it was factory tint , you know like limited edition from manufacturer ) At a glance no body will be able to argue the difference . ( i know people who have done it and got away with it ) Anyway not trying to suggest you do it , just saying that it has been done

hope the windows turn out OK anyhow

I thought you weren't allowed to tint the front windows anymore. Can't you be fined by the police and then told to remove them? (dunno what level of tinting is legal though so maybe you're okay - I hope so anyway).

No you can tint the front passenger side and driver sides, but now you are only allowed light smoke in the front

How did that get there??

Seriously though... Give it a few days and see if things settle down, make a list of ant defects and take it back if you need to.
