Yeah I forgot about that . You can have a light tint . Here in spain they say not at all so thats why some people have put a light tint on the front and filed the edges down so it looks like factory tint

DAnny : youve seen a hair under the tint , sorry to hear that . better get the guy to sort it then and may as well tell him to sort out the streaks as well

what´s the weather been like ? have you had any sunny days because leaving it out in the sun as much as possible will help dry it out . anyway just sort the guy out if I were you

rang the guy up, says he will change the film on the front one where the hair is, and says any of the creases and bubbles will come out no problem within a week. hope he is right!! really stressing now!

Notice youre from chester used to hang around there quite a lot . My MAtes bother in LAw was managing Queen´s Head on Forgate street for about 2 years ( around ´94 - ´95 ) USed to go round wetherspoons and Brannigans etc quite a bit . Moved to Wrexham in the end , only coz it was cheap to buy houses there ( no Im not welsh )

Anyway hope the windows are ok and it doesnt turn into a bat jobbie

Like Mel Gibson says to Joaquin Pheonix in the film , Signs , " swing away " :ffs:

Nah just joking ! :P

No you can tint the front passenger side and driver sides, but now you are only allowed light smoke in the front

Light smoke is too dark aswell but most people don't get pulled over for it 'cos it doesn't look that dark! If you are driving like a tube well then you deserve to get pulled over and get your tints checked etc etc.

Anyway, looks like a poor job Danny but I have no experiance of window tints and the others have so I dunno if the air bubbles etc will come, hope they do for your sake though!

I always told you to go to Pentagon, aye a bit more expensive but in that case you get what you pay for!

Mine were only done yesterday and they were a bit 'smeary' but the look better already - the guy doing mine did say no heated rear for a week and no cleaning either ...

He said to give him a ring if I had any problems which is cool - give it a week mate

Being the nosey sod that I am I er ... 'supervised' the guy doing mine. The film (as you know comes with backing). First of all he cut a very rough shape... then laid in onto the outside of the window and made a few more cuts to size.

Then took it to a glass panel and straightened all the edges etc before finally wetting it down with soapy water and removing the backing.

He had already taken off my high level brake light so he then just pushed the film up onto the window inside and roughly smoothed it.

Left it for 5 mins before getting a 'smoother' and giving it a good smoothing. About 20mins later he using some spray to clan the film then smooth out any visible bubbles..

i went for a medium smoke all round. just a rigth balance. not too dark not too light...  160 was  good price i agree. was a place called tint master in liverpool, just looked like some garage! lol. the guy was alright tho, and he has said he will sort out any bubbles and things. he told me not to open the windows for at least 4 days and take it to him a week later so he can give it once over when water has dried out..

as for the bit around the edges, if it dont go away, i may ask him to re-do it. cheap or not, i still paid good money for a professional tint!

I know this guy - he did some work on my car.

he's a good guy - he'll stand behind his work and fix any problems, pretty certain

I thought you weren't allowed to tint the front windows anymore. Can't you be fined by the police and then told to remove them? (dunno what level of tinting is legal though so maybe you're okay - I hope so anyway).

No you can tint the front passenger side and driver sides, but now you are only allowed light smoke in the front

No you can't have the front windows tinted at all. You can only legaly (in the UK) tint from the front door pillar back... back can be as dark as you like but no tints allowed on front doors or windscreen... this was a change in the law that came into force in January 2004.

Yes the police can ask you to remove them.. they can also put a prohibition order on the car preventing you from moving it anywhere untill the tints are removed :( .

But i said sod it i got a light smoke on mine all round except the windscreen.. had them for over a year and i aint been pulled once.

If you have a medium smoke.. you might have a little trouble seeing out the back window when reversing up a dark street... the further you get to the back of the car the less light gets in and it makes it more difficult to see.. i would have recommended only light smoke all round not medium.

cfc is right.

In Jan 04 the law changed so that you cant tint foward of the B-Pillar, so the windscreen and front 2 windows are to remain un touched. The rest, do whatever you want to them!

Notice the Chrysler Voyager has pretty much limo tints as standard, but the fronts are not tinted at all.
