Goodbye To My Yts

After 3.5 years and 58,000 miles in my YTS, I've decided to move on to something new. My Dad has bought the YTS (last night), and I picked up my new car this morning. Was sad to see it go in a way, as I've really enjoyed owning the YTS.

I just wanted to say thanks very much to everyone on here that has helped me with my YTS :)

The new car is a Civic Type-R. Honda gave me a bunch of flowers with it which look a little bit out of place on my desk at work - lol.

Lucky man! I soooo want a CTR! It's a screaming piece of automotive heaven! Hope you enjoy it to the fullest!

P.S. It's nice getting the flowers isn't it?? My mum did when she had a punto!

It's brand new. The 1-2 year old ones aren't all that much cheaper, so I thought I'd go for a new one.

Paid £16,300 with A/C (not metallic paint, so £950 under the list price). Drive the deal were offering them about £300 cheaper, but couldn't commit to a delivery date so I decided to go with the local(ish) dealer option to ensure a smooth sale. I'm pleased I did - the Honda dealer has been really good :)

Yeah the Honda dealers really go all out for their customers....

When I went to test drive the Jazz, the guy was saying about what they do to make your life easier, like at service time, they will come and pick the car up for you and then deliver it to wherever you want it delivered once its been serviced etc etc so bows and flowers sound about right! :D

Honda have always been hot on customer service though.....

Congrats on your new CTR - enjoy it!

Its a beautiful car to drive and has lots of space, but in the end, I decided I wanted another Yaris.....

They do have a "Sport" version, but from what the sales guy said, its not actually sportier, just made to look a bit sportier - still has the same 1.4 engine as the SE.... which is a shame....

Ne'er mind though! :D

  • 3 months later...

Hi all,

As requested, here's a quick 3 month report on the Civic Type-R:

Great fun to drive, really goes mad after 6000rpm up to the 8000rpm red line. Uses alot of fuel, as expected - I've been getting between 20 and 30mpg. Hasn't used much oil, although I gather some of them do. The manual states 'normal' consumption can be up to 1 litre per 600 miles - I'd be quite worried if mine did that! Suspension is very firm, but just how I like it :)

Gearchange (2nd in particular) is a bit stiff/notchy when cold which I gather is a common problem on the CTR. Supposedly, it gets better with miles as everything gets fully worn in and loosened up - currently waiting to see if this proves to be the case or not! Other than that, no problems with the car.

Something wierd about the car is that it's only a 4 seater rather than 5 seater. There's only two belts in the back, despite the fact there's room for 3! Not quite sure why they did that.

Would recommend one. After enjoying owning my Yaris, and moving on to the Civic, I think I would now take some persuading to get something that wasn't Japanese.

My parents are pleased with my YTS (as I thought they would be :) ) and don't seem to have had any real problems so far. The alloys were unmarked when I sold it, but Dad's managed to kerb one of them already :censor:

Hope you're all getting on well with your Yaris's
