Whats This Bit Called?

Can anyone help, I have a 1989 Gen 5 and I need a new part but I dont know what its called!

Its the part thats situated at the back of the engine compartment not attached to the main engine block & (slightly to the right just under the nearside wiper ) that is used to adjust the fuel mixture ( not the idle) It has a small black plug that covers up a screw. Its only a about 2" X 1" A part number would be even better?

I have tried to describe it to my main dealer but as the car is more than 6 months old it was hard work and I am sure they quoted me the wrong bit.

Sorry I am unable to post pictures, A local garage said the mixture control valve was faulty but didnt want to know about replacing , My engine was ( and still is) running far too rich.
