I need someone to translate the brief instructions regarding the two electrical switches which effect the 4 Wheel Steer function on my Celica 2.0L GT 94/95 as found in the original Owner's Manual.

Can anyone help me please?

Found a few details that may help, from the Celica-Club.

"1. In Normal mode, under 40mph the back wheels steer in the opposite direction. Over 40mph the backs move in the co-operative direction

2. In SPORTS mode, the backs steer in the opposite direction at all times

3. In REVS-2WS mode, it locks the back wheels straight during reversing - conventional 2WS. Usually to carry out the tracking or help in reversing etc (this is damn helpful info as the tracking on my celi is out)

4. I have mainly switched to the SPORTS mode by turning the ignition off and then turning it back on with this mode on. This way the motor adjusts straight away and I am sure that it puts switching on the move puts stress on the motor

Checks:

1. You should be able to see the rear wheels moving when stationary and turning the steering wheel...If the ignition is on, turn full lock, depress the REVS 2WS button then put the car into reverse and watch the rear wheels they should

steer to central position. If they do then that's one motor working OK.

2. There's a second motor that swaps over between opposing and co-operative steering direction but it's a bit more difficult to check as you need to check the ECU for error codes. These can be switched during the drive but it takes some time for the rear motors to adjust."
