Removing Mr2 Radiator

Recommended Posts

I need help from you guys asap...

I need to get the rad out of my mr2 as i sold it to Rico, but im having MAJOR difficulty actually getting the damn thing outta the car..

I drained it, took off all the hoses, removed the top bolt for the fan, removed the bonnet catch thingy, the rad clamps, what now? its stuck, it moves but it wont come out!!!

Does it drop out from the bottom? If so it looks like ill have to remove a cross member thing.

HELP PLEASE! :help:

Theres bolts at the bottom too...

Where?

I looked and felt all along the bottom and couldn't see or find any, the rad seems pretty free moving as well though...

Posted

that's why I sent you the 140Mb BGB fella -

Posted

I used it...

I've done all it has told me to!

Posted

Hmm... Is it caught on anything?

Have you taken the fan/s off?

Posted

Fan isn't meant to come off (plus there is no room for it to) until the rad is out according to the guide...

Posted

And ive had a proper look and cant see that its caught on anything...

There are no bolts at the bottom. The rad sits on 2 big round rubber blocks. They'll be rotten, but are reusable if required.

From underneath, prise with a long screwdriver between the bottom of the rad and the beam the rad sits on and it'll pop free.

Brilliant! :)

Cheers!

Well I'll make sure we have another go at the exhaust this weekend as its much easier to get now with the back bumper off n all!

AND when bfuller was doing it it was about 10:30pm! (tres dark)

I was serious about the angle grinder thing! - Them bolts are rock solid.

If I cut the cat in half, pull the exhaust out then grind the bolts off, it'll be a 10 min job :D
