I need some advice....badly, just don't know what to do...

I have a '97 4-Runner, 4 cylinder, standard, basic model, 300,000.00KM, all highways, no major problems so far. Now the headgasket is leaking, cooling fluid is leaking in.

I also have a '97 4-Runner, V6, automatic, 2 wheel drive (US), which I've bought used a year ago. The car is totalled but the engine and other parts are new (20,000.00km).

Can and should I swap the engine? Should I just get the headgasket replaced? Should I get the engine rebuilt? How much is this going to cost me?

The 4 cylinder 4-Runner, that we are driving still looks great and is in good overall condition, I have bought the other 4-Runner for parts and it allready paid for itself....just don't know what to do now.

THANX, Tom

A 6 for a 4 swap is not really all that common (in my circles anyway). Find a good Toyota mechanic who will shoot the 'breeze' with you - specifically you'll want to know about the motor mounts, and transmission compatibility - they may be different. Doesn't mean you couldn't do it, just becomes more expensive, especially if one is an auto and one is a manual.

Or, you could sell me the 3.4l and ecu so I could swap them into my 95 with a dieing 3.0. B) B)
