Hi kevin

According to the banzai mag you are having some serious work done.

The bottom end will be rebuilt.

The head will be ported.

And having new spring retainers.

A new intake manifold.

After the work is done you will be able to run over 2bar safely  Sweet

Cant wait to here the results.

Adi - just noticed in your sig it says you have turbotechnics hybrids.

Im looking to tinker with the turbos in the future on mine, whats been done to yours? :)

Quite a bit was done to them i think.. Giles at TT knows his stuff and did a good build. Remember though that these are the CT12A as opposed to the CT12B.

Oh, and i also took them back after a year or two for a wastegate enlargement :D

£Cost - you dont wanna know :D but all in all between about £1800 including gasket kits, oil, etc etc.

Good stuff

This is what im planning on getting done to mine, having Fensport (or turbotechnics rather) to do a stage 3 on them so i can run up to 2bar boost.

£1800 isnt too bad really when you think you could blow that on a single unit and you have all the hassle of a new manifold and insurance etc.

(I assume you dont bother telling your ins about the uprated turbos as they are still the factory turbos ;) )

Im looking at no more than 500bhp as i want a street monster rather than a stupid high bhp machine and also i dont want to exceed 500bhp so i can run stock internals and i wont wear out the gearbox.

Only thing i have been told is that they get very hot at such high boost, have you ever had yours overheat or anything?

What else did you have to uprate to run the turbos? New Intercooler?

Cheers man

I wouldnt go with fensport.. i'd go straight to TT.. ask for Giles.. he knows his stuff with the CT12's.

As for the heat issue.. this is only normally the case with the standard turbos.. ie when people want to run high boost on the standard turbos they simply wind them up. Whilst this produces the boost it does so by spinning the turbos at a speed which is too high for them.. hence the heat due to friction (at least thats how i understand it).

With they hybrids more boost can be made with lower turbo RPM due to them shifting more air from the increased turbine size, hence less heat.

At the moment i havent upgraded my intercooler as yet as i dont need to until about 1.3bar.. i will have to tackle my fuelling soon though as the rest of my engine is pretty much standard.

as for the insurance ? of course i've told them :D

I wouldn't advise running 2.0 bar on any stock based turbo setups

but they wouldnt be stock after TT had played with them :D Mine have been tested to 2 bar with no probs.. and they're marginally smaller than the CT12B's.

And what were your EGTs when running at 2Bar ?

The MKIV manifold is so restrictive that i have no doubt temperatures would soar at 2Bar

Giles Did the Turbos on my black T too....

I think I am going to have the seals done on my CT-26 soon.....

While its there............. ;)

nope i havent run them at 2bar, but thats what the build is designed for. I'd never run them at anything over 1.5 i guess... Obviously the EGT's would have to be catered for as much as possible in the same way as anything else during an upgrade... you wouldnt just slap them on, fit an FCD and hit the boost controller :D

adi you clearly no your stuff, i have a m7 gte engine and

wont to play, but how do i get it to go quicker not faster wot about

if i adjust the actuater and ECU i did this my cav turbo,

can i do the same to my supra :thumbsup:

Yes you can alter the actuator.. the easiest way is to place four or five washers under the bolts that hold it on to the turbo... it pushes it further out so you get an extra 3 or 4 psi.

Before that though get rid of the stock exhaust system.. fit a freeflow catless system. Mongoose do one off the shelf.

Doing both of the above gives you about 50bhp.

I might have a powerflow decated stainless exhaust for sale...

Its perfect, lifetime garantee... but too noisy for me!!
