Rims...some Questions

I've found a set i really like, 17" and 7" wide

now my questions are:

will 235/40/17(rear) and 205/40/17 (front) tyres fit a 7" wide rim? if not, what is the best dimensions for tyres?

and, the rims are available in offsets 38 and 45...which is best for the mr2?

will i be better off using 45 offset at the rear and 38 on the front or what should i get?

really need help asap as i'm looking to buy soon :)

Thanks in advance!

If you're going for 17's you should ideally go with 215/40/17 front and 235/40/17 rear.

This will best match the original circumference.

You will get 235 on 7J rims, but might overhang a little. Better to match tyre width with wheel width if possible.

i.e. 17 x 7J front with 215/40/17 and 17 x 8J rear with 235/40/17

I'm running with 17 x 7J front and 17 x 8J rear and both are ET35 offset.

38mm offset will be fine for you. If you like them further in, go with the 45mm offset... but not sure on inside wheel clearance with them.

Post pics of wheels you're after.

Good luck in your decision mate. Wheels can really make or break the look of the MR2.

Hope this helps.

thanks alot jesus for your fast reply!

my mate is checking the rims out for me, and he thinks they are made in 8j's aswell so if that's the case i'll get 8js for the rear.

very nice!!! not sure about chrome on a red motor, but different stokes for different folks. You'll need 8J on the back coz 235's wont fit.

They will, but they'll bulge a bit. It's possible to get 245's on a 7 inch rim, but they look rediculous :)
