Avensis Mk2 Keys Not Working Some Locations

My Avensis series 2 has developed a refusal to lock with the radio key sometimes.

It's in certain spots at my work carpark, and the area close to the house on my drive. Works OK further towards road and rest of work car park.

This affects all 3 keys, and car locks/unlocks OK elsewhere.

Work carpark is next to a train station & building site, but home isn't.

Any ideas what could be intefering & where to start looking?

I've tried switching off my porch light & wireless LAN...

There don't appear to be any taxi firms operating from our area.

I had a similar experience. In my driveway the alarm (key fob) would not set sometimes (over 2-3days). Everywhere else was fine. I don't know what the cause was for sure but the only thing that was different when it started, and ended was that I had left(forgot) a mobile phone in the door pocket. Once I removed it - it was fine again (year+).

I can only speculate the phone signal/strength was interfering somehow.

I am having the same problem with an added twist. I can lock the car with the fob and then the next time I want to get in it wont open via the fob. Is there any way to stop the alarm going off when you open the door on the key when the alam is fully set?

This morning I couldn't get in with the fob, turned the key the wrong way in the door to open it and set something off and the key just rotated 360 degrees in the lock for a while before resetting (about 3-5 mins) and letting me open the door the right way with the key, setting the alarm off!! Any ideas

Cheers

Adding info to my post: still problems even if I switch off all electrics in house, including taking batteries out of smoke alarms...

perhaps this is the Battery in the key having had a rest thhough .

After several days, it's now working fine.

It got progressively better with the key working from further and further away as it recovered.

Bigrick in another thread said his problem was a wireless doorbell stuck down. We don't have one of these but I'll ask my neighbour... my car didnt work on his drive either. (I tried various locations in our square !)

FIXED!

I've found the problem...this might help somone else.

Right at the back of the garage in a drawer there was a radio remote control for one of those mains sockets that you switch on and off remotely. Might have been stuck down, anyway took the Battery out and car now works fine...
