Ok... i totaly understand why people want to change there motors to look a little different to the norm but why oh why put the badges of what there inpersonating on!

the story..... i was coming of a roundabout and saw a escort cosworth infront, the roads were clear and i thought what the heck....up under his bumper and i thought to myself what a sad driver not wanting to play, then i saw a puff of smoke as he knocks it down a cog(its a f*rd!)... i pull out get along side him, half expecting him to leave me standing and go. I glance across at a spotty little 13 year old with a baceball cap on back to front!! have a glance at the car and think why! looking back on it i should have relized by the shade difference on the kit.... all because of one little Badge....

Alcohols grate, but not when driving!!!! just thought i would share that with you lot.... please tell me im not the only person that feels that way.

Dan

PS the gt4 Badge is on order!!!!!!

candidate for some thicko to nick his car... then relise its not what it seems and wrecks it.

also.. comes to insurance.. when this wally has an accident surely his claim will be affected.. like most insurance companies like to find an excuse!

1 of my mates made an Escort Cossie replica. It took so much time and effort to get it looking purfect, it was a great car but we couldn't race anything! Most people who try to race u are in Nova's etc... so when we don't boot it they must assume that we know we can kill them so why bother?? :D The reason he made it was just to show off, he was only 21 and he loved these cars, so he had to make-a-fake! You couldn't tell that it was a rep, evey tiny detail was done , it got an 8 page spread in a Ford magazine and made the front page!! At that age he could never afford a real one so this made up for it ;)

Even if it's the image it's a bit naff..

You can imagine the situation you pull up and park and a true enthusiast comes along, the imagined conversation would go a little like :

Enthusiast: Scuse me, nice motor, mind if I have a closer look ?

You: Na, go ahead...

Enthusiast: That's not the standard interior for this car is it ?

You: erm, a, erm no not quite....

Enthusiast: Mind if I look under the hood, I've always wanted a closer look....

You: erm, a, erm...

Enthusiast: PLeaseeeeeee

You: OK

[pop hood]

Enthusiast: Oh !!!

You: It's in early stages, Im converting her....

Enthusiast: I see, your a muppet

You: No, I've done the body work first

Enthusiast: So what's next...

You: I have to wait for my pimiples to pop and make some money

Enthusiast: When's that liekly to happen...

You: A few years

Enthusiast: Ok so your a muppet see ya.....

the interior is same as a Cossie, the engine was a 1.8 16V tuned up thing, wasn't a cossie though!! Like I said, u couldn't know from looking at it unless u pop that bonnet! But it was a nice car anyway for a 21 yr old! how can anyone say it isn't? Anyway, now he's a couple yrs older, with a new beast, he will be more than happy to let people ask if they can pop his bonnet, thats if they can catch us up to ask!!! ;) :P

I do think most relicas are crap, they are not done as well as my mates was. It was a !Removed! though when people were expecting us to give it the big 1!

Ryan you cheeky <the spuds of lurrrrvve>s. :P

I would like it made clear that my car is dirty because I am a fat lazy *****!!!!!!!!

It is authentic WRC mud though.

Incidentally, in Japan you can but spray cans of mud believe it or not. A popular product for 4x4 owners who can't get off road. The idea is to apply it behind the wheel arches. Whatever next.

I didn't want to say that was the reason although you have mentioned it in person before :P

At least on a 4WD the mud looks a s if it should be there, almosta fashion statement lol :D

Spray on mud, now there's an idea wonder if we could do a group buy, would be amusing for car shows where you could spray nice clean max muppet motors :D :D :D

The most odd 'replica' i have seen (apart from the max flower lot) was at Silverstone at a Ferrari track day a few weeks ago.

It was a Ferrari 355 kitted up as an F40.....why????

The shape was wrong, it just looked odd.

i think the best replica i saw was an mr2 with a ferrari body kit on. this car looked the biz. i dont know if he's a club member.

all he has to do is put a well sorted 3S-GTE in and it'll eat ferrari's too

The Ferrari bpoykit for the MR2 is a pile of pant's I'm afraid to say, looks OK from a distance but if it starts to drive it's awful, the ride quality, handling and performance are ruined and you may as well just through your money on buying a barge.... Especially if your running an NA, just think of all that extra weight, massive spacers on the wheels and running an NA engine....

IMHO Ferrarir Bodykits on MR2's are the equivalent of running massive bodykits on Nova's....

Of course that just my opinion but thought I would add my 2p :)

But he gets to drive a lovely looking motor with lower insurance. Some people prefer looks to performance. That's why I have owned two WRX's. It wasn't for their styling.
