Oil Pressure Light

Recommended Posts

I have just got myself a Mk2 MR2 engine code 3s-fe and when starting from cold the oil pressure light is slow to go out, <_< however when the car is hot it goes out straight away sometimes even when turning over. :D When the engine is idleing the light does not come on or flicker the engine is also very quiet and does not sound like it suffers from oil starvation. I have changed the oil and filter (10-40 semi synthetic) and renewed the pressure switch all have made no differance.

Has anybody else had this problem or know any solution? or is this a normal thing on these engines?

I presume you mean the red oil light at the bottom right? Mine can be a bit slow going out sometimes, takes anything from 1-5 seconds after starting up.

it's normal .. don't worry .. take a few secs to get up to pressure ..

Yep. Mines the same. 1-2 seconds when cold. No worries.

Make sure you put a genuine Toyota filter on tho. Some aftermarket ones dont have an anti drain thingy.

(Who`s stupid idea was it to put an oil filter on upside down anyway?)
