Problem Cracked

Hi Guys,

thought I would let you know that the problem with my 02 Avensis not locking or being unable to open it at various times at home has been solved!

Some of the guys were talking about radio interference being the likely problem which seemed a logical explanation as my car has never had a problem away from the house.

Last night I came home and as in recent times had to lock the car with the key, which in itself is very annoying, but not as bad as not being able to open it in the morning with the fob!

Anyway I was thinking about radio interference as being the only reason left and our wireless door bell came to mind. We have had a problem with it for a while with people pressing the button too hard and it gets left pressed in, hence sending out a radio wave! I went out side and low and behold it was pressed in, after depressing it I tried the Fob and bingo worked fine! I did some further testing this morning and it is defiantly the bell causing the problem!!

I hope this might solve somebody else’s problem, certainly at home anyway.

Strange things these cordless doorbells. My doorbell used to ring when I locked up a loan Astra outside. Weird thing was that it played a Big Ben tune which it hasnt ever played otherwise, normally just a ding dong. Thank god its gone back to the dealer.Spooky

Thanks, I'll look at that . We don't have a wireless doorbell but perhaps the neighbours do..

My problem has slowly got progressively better, so that woudl be consistent with a Battery running down...
