Thanks for the help in my previous posts guys youve helped me no end, but got a couple more questions for ya if ya dont mind.

right.. the block i was kinda worried about but now im not.. as i only want to skim the cylinders to the minimum i can get away with....What is the next size piston up from the standard sized original..if ya know what i mean.

Rods and crank, as i have been told they are fine to around 500bhp ish.....as im aiming for 450bhp i think i should be fine?, now i was thinking about renewing all the bearings on the rods/crank and any other you know of, is this possible to get uprated bearings for the standard rods/crank.. or will new standard bearings do the job, i want to renew these as my car has done 127000 miles so they gotto be about ready to be renewed if im upping the power.

thats about all i can think of at the moment.

standard bearings should do the job, at those miles new bearings/thrust are a must imho as the old will just disintegrate. leaving you with a whole bottom enf rebuild

but in any event at those bhp youve estimated, stock wont last forever, eventualy you will need uprated crank and bearings in kit form, and rods - even uprated hi lift cams if you realy want to go to town for longevity.

Piston sizes on re ground cylinders? you may get away with forgies at standard size if you dont go hell bent on reboring. other than that, for next sizes i dont know - call fensport or ian smith.

hope it goes well mate

If you're going to the trouble of reboring, and new pistons I would be tempted to do the whole bottom end. It'll cost, but I would want the peace of mind with the kind of output you are aiming at. Maybe just swapping the bolts for ARP ones would be enough in the shorter term?

i know what ya mean, everyone has given me great advice ..like how to strengthen the engine the cheapest methods and so on, if any of you guys know of were i can obtain less expensive parts for my car i would apretiate it, i have been thinking about ordering them from the states as they seem to be cheaper, things i need to start with are

crank

rods

forged pistons

uprated bearings

Bolts.. etc

will i be able to put any performance rods on any performance crank?

just so i can find the best deals on items and put them all together... is this possible.. to mix & match different brands or wont they fit?

for your bottom end go for an 86.25 forged piston (as long as that size over bore is enough for the condition of your cylinders) trd bearings are availiable and may be worth while, would also recomend arp head, main , bigend and flywheel bolts although the alloy sump pan needs modifing for the arp main bolts (not hard took me about 10mins) get the crank checked and micro polished. also use a new oil pump, dont be tempted to use the old one no matter how good it seems. and also replace the pressure relief valve located on the front of the alloy sump next to the turbo oil return pipe theyre only abou 20 quid but it is important to keep up oil pressure. im going to replace ine about every 6 mths now.

yep any rod should fit any crank with the exeption of stroker components. eagle rods are good value for money

In old money pistons are usually bigger in increments of .010 inches (about .25mm). Cranks are ground smaller in the same increments.

When you rebuild I'd also recommend you get a new water pump too, they're not that expensive and well worth the investment.
