Help with Avensis wind noise

I have recently bought an Avensis CDX D4D. I am experiencing severe wind noise at motorway speeds. Have any long term Avensis owners got the same problem, or a solution?

Any idea where the noise is coming from excatly?

I sometimes notice that the rear windows on mine (which is so old I've electric fronts but wind-up rears) ;) sometimes come ajar a little. The noise goes once they're wound up.

Apart from that, no problems, but then I do come from a background of Fiesta's and Polo's so the noise difference was considerable when I moved to the Avensis.

Give us some specifics and I'll keep an ear out on mine.

Okay, if the noise appears to be from around the windscreen, take it for someone to check the bonding and seal around it.

Noticed not long after I got mine that the rear screen that the rubber was coming was out, so the dealership took the creen out and rebonded it. Might be worth getting someone to check.

The wind deflector on the sunroof will be quiter when closed a t low speeds. at higher speeds it will result in a 'booming' noise in the rear of the car.

This booming noise will also occur if you drop both rear windows fully and leave the fronts up. Above 60 it gets really annoying.

Check all of the door seals just in case one of the doors is a little out of shape around the window frame. With the car perfectly dry - open the door, apply a solution of 1:1 car shampoo & water to the rubber seal around the door aperture, close the door, open the door and see if the soap has transferred equally all around. where the soap hasn't transferred quite so well will be the potential source of the noise.

Don't forget to check the seals on the tailgate/bootlid as well.
