Checking out my 98 Carina E 1.8GLI Auto yesterday, noticed hole with plastic insert behind plug leads pointing towards the manifold. Should this be plugged or open (it is open at present). :help:

Are we talking the inlet manifold side or exhaust. ? The only things I can think over under the inlet manifold are the air control valve and the vacuum swithcing valve. Other than that there may be core plugs for the bottom block, but these would have metal plugs that blow if the block is frozen.

What is behind the plastic plug?

Without any more information than that, I'm guessing it might be where the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve goes? Not sure if you guys got such things there...
