High Level Brake Light On Uk 96 Gt Cabrio

I have purchased a UK 2000GT Celica Cabrio 1996, Upon inspection i see there is a high level LED brake light lens mounted in escution between rag top and boot lid. That is all it is, a red slimline lens. It has not been added, its original. Upon inpection i find it has no sign of lighting unit or wires. Mr T just looked at me as though i was crazy- told me to go to auto electrician. Has anyone got this model ? Does your 3rd light work. Or did Toyota just put a lens in for good luck on a car with an original price tag of £28000, but could't run to a LED unit and wires. CAN ANYBODY PUT a LIGHT ON THIS MYSTERY.

Hi Keefey. I went to my local Toyota dealer and gave my reg number. They found the part , which is an actual led brake light. It cost about £40. Don't know why toyota decided to put in a blank but there is no wiring there at all. You have to of course take off the black trim to get to it. It takes about 1/2 an hour to do.

Cost £50.00 to install by local auto electrician. Part number 81570-OW020.

Very bright light. Are there many 95-99 convertable models in your area ?

Since I sold my MR2 SW20 T Bar and got this 96 black convertable i have received a lot of attention. Toyota IOW did not sell one new on this patch.
