About 8 months ago i bought a K&N panel filter for my Carina 1.6L 4A-FE engine and it is useless..I'm very dissapointed from it and it is just getting a bit of space of my trunk now..When i installed it,the throttle response became worst and the economy light was lighting up earlier(which may be logical due to more air mass) but the result is that it didn't give any power to the car..May it is my custom exhaust that doesn't let it work properly, maybe my ECU(DENS,Japan, not Bosch), i don't know but i'm not satisfied!

I've had a Green Cotton Filter (same as K&N except Green!) for the last 3 years now and it's great. Cost £40 from Halfords and has paid for itself many times over. Just wash, dry and go.! They are guaranteed for 100,000 miles. You can't go wrong.

The make is Green Cotton. They are the same as K&N but Green! Also check out e-bay as there are some Scorpion direct replacements on offer at the mo at £11. these are foam but will be cost effective as they also carry a 100000 mile warranty. ;)

Hi,

Do u notice a Difference in performance with the Green Cotten Filter installed, instead of the Toyota one?

Thanks

If you go on eBay there is someone selling a Scorpion replacement foam filter for £7.50 + p&p, total £11.

For that price you may as well try it. I have bought one but it's too early to tell if there is much difference to the running.

No difference that is noticeble apart from a better flow of air as the engine demands it. It's a certain bet to save you on cost as long as you're not looking to sell that car. Just fitted the scorpion filter to my Corolla and am pleased. With the paper filter's once they start getting dirty it does impede air flow. With foam and cotton, the membrane is different so allowing air to always flow even when really dirty.
