Hi there ppl.

I am new here and to my Toyota Carina E '97.

My car has a radio/cassete player and I wanted to replace it with a CD player.

1) Does anybody know if the fitting can be done easily at home or do I need a professional fitter?

2) Is there any specifications to keep in mind about Watts/Rms details when I look out for a CD player?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Pintu

you'll need a cable from Halfords , around £ 15 to join o/e wires to the iso on the new head unit .pointless going too high as the o/e Speakers wont be a very high rating i would'nt think. i'd go for a mp3 player if you're into burning your own cd's.fitting is pretty easy just a few screws here and there.

Then How about the ipod ? Is it pretty easy to get it to communicate with your factory fitted radio/cassette player? Or would I have to spend something to buy an adapter etc not to loose the sound quality?

I think what Maleborn meant was to buy an MP3 head unit rather than a CD only headunit. An mp3 headunit will allow you to fill a CD full of MP3's and play them in your car. This lets you have about 10 albums on one CD - Eliminating the need for a CD changer - You can pick an Ok'ish MP3 head unit up for about £80 now.

If you get a well known make of headunit you should be ok with finding adpater leads and the quality should be OK.

If you are a cheap **** like I was with my first few cars you can just cut the old connectors off and solder the wires from the new connector on. Works just as well but makes it hard to change at a later date
