CAN ANYONE HELP? TWO DAYS AGO WHEN WE HAD A LOT OF RAIN MY CAR WOULDNT START AND STILL HASENT STARTED. ITS DONE THIS BEFORE IN THE WET BUT NEVER FOR THIS LONG. ITS OBVIOUS THAT SOMETHING IS GETTING WET BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT. HAS THIS HAPPENED TO ANY ONE ELSE OR ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS WHAT IT COULD BE?????????THANX

take the dizzy cap off and rotor , bring em in doors and dry em out , reinstall once dry , then spray wd40 on the cap all the leads and coil.in violent storms a blanket or similar over a cold engine overnight helps on the mr2. :thumbsup:

fairly common when its absolutely lashing down.Check inside your holes where the plugs sit too , they can fill with water.Read the threads in the mr2 section , this has happened to quite a few guys.

a good dry out and wd40 should see you ok , maybe a fresh dizzy cap rotor and plugs will help.

have ya removed the cover under the engine bay lid?? or is it still there??

always dont use caps! makes things harder to read ya know ;)

i take it there is a plastic cover then under the latts of the mr2 engine bay ????

yeah, well its metal actually.

some owners (especially turbos) remove it in the summer as it helps cooling

but if you leave it in the rain it acts like a drain and just soaks the engine

take a look on th left portion of your keyboard...there is a button called "Caps Lock"...do go ahead and press it.

is that black thing not to help with convection to cool the engine?

finally got me car going today but only because the sun dryed it out..........havent removed anything from the engine bay but i dont think there is anything there like you said should this be better or not...........getting it serviced on tuesday and they are going to check it over for me and hopfully fix it permanently.
