Accept my apologies if what I'm about to list has already been published on the site, I haven't been on for a while.....

Just to update the forum on issues on this model year ( + possibly others ) on Steering knoccking/noise & Oil consumption.

I have just received a phone call from my dealership. They want my car in to change the steering rack for a problem I reported 6 months ago. They tell me Toyota have now issued new design racks to overcome problem.

Oil consumption:- As you may be aware, all engines are now covered for 5 years/ 100,000 miles. I have been asked to monitor my oil usage ( documenting on excel file ) & in 6 months time discuss with dealer. At the moment I am using 1 litre of oil every 2000 miles, this I have been told is normal ( ??? ). If you read your owners manual, it does state 1 litre every 750 miles as being normal ( I don't think so )!!

The official cause is piston ring corrosion caused by blow-by gases. I will let you know how this progresses.
