Having had my new pride and joy keyed after just 5 days(he is in car hospital today) and reading of several similar situations on here, i think ill run for prime minister. My motor manifesto will be:

1) To increase penalty for criminal damage (currently a hard slap on the rist, ouch! scary!) any ideas as to how...let me know

2)install flamethrowers into car doors as standard to torch the gits as they scratch the car (ok harsh i admit, but im hurting ok!)

oh and while im here....

3)increase speeds on motorways (which are safe at speed and slow cars are more dangerous here)

3)revoke the new police traffic offence targets,in which they have to catch (eg 5 speeders a day),i can imagine at 5pm before they knock off saying "sh*t! we have to catch 3 more quickly" and doing you for 31 mph!

4)remove speed cameras from non black spot areas

5)insist you dispay your insurance id as well as your tax disc for the scroats who dont give a damn

6)remove all beige and brown cars from the road (ugh!)

ok thanks....rant over......so come on vote for me today! ;)

Got my vote, but, why not add....

Penalties for local councils who don't take car of their roads as we council tax payers are paying for them (anyone else driven around oxfrod recently, the roads are dreadful)....

Sort out over the top insurance costs, I love Dubai where you buy your insurance at a low level and every crash you have you geteither a green or red piece of paper (have to call the police) green not your fault pay nothing, red your fault pay the lot :)

Oh, oh, oh I have a good one.....

Put a heavy tax on Max Power Magazine so the youn max muppets can't afford it and they might start doing some serious articles on decent modifications on real cars :)

Agree totally on the insurance one,it's barmy you don't have to display anything to show you are covered peter.

As for speed camera's the most sneeky one i know is where the A1 joins the A14 first signpost on the left as joining it's right behind the sign.

Somebody on the A40 chelt-oxford road pulled over all the cameras over a 3 mile stretch. you could see them just lying there looking sad for themselves! Thats justice! (although i of course do not approve whatsoever! :P ;) :D )

I'll just get my tow rope and ill see u shortly ;)

(if u r the police...im only joking!...or am I ;) )

remove all speed bumps everywhere. thats a start. if ppl cant drive sensibly in built up areas then they shouldn't b driving at all!

ban cyclists from the road most of them are a menace and a danger. they have no tax no insurance and dont have a licence but they can still kill pedestians. there was a case recently where a cyclist hit a thirteen yearold girl killing her!

dawsey I have to disagree with the speed bumps, they do slow people down in built up area's and although people should eb sensible enough to drive in a controlled manner most people don't...

I was driving down a quiet road with a lot of speed bumps the other day where Iam literally restriced by my suspension to around 10mph, car behind had enough and forced his way through before I could move to block, he was inches from my car and parked cars and forced a cyclist to swerve into a small gap betwwen two parked cars or he would have hit.

A large number of modern day motorists are to stressed to be on the roads....

do agree with you on that rhaines, but i do think there should be better education for motorists if people drove acording to their ability and road conditions there would be a big reduction in fatalities. still some people never learn

The speed bumps thing is quite interesting:

I aggree that something should be used to limit the speed of motorists to 30 mph in the villages and towns etc were 30mph is a sensible limit.

I think that it is just as criminal to slow someone else down as it is to drive to fast yourself, the speed bumps in my village I can't even get over with more than one passenger in (suspension issue like ryan's ;) ) Why should snyone have the right to force me to drive at 10 mph when the legal limit is 30? If it's a 30 limit, you should be able to do 30 down that road without damaging your car, i don't know of any speed bumps that you can do this.

Solution: Stop putting speed camaera's on dual carriageways and motorways where it is now considered safe to drive at higher speeds than the 70 limit, put the camera's in the villages and the towns instead of sodding speed bumps, even set the trigger limit at 30.5mph but at least that way you can drive sensibly without ubiking off your self and other motorists by crawling over these sodding great highway mountains at 5mph!!

OK Rant over for today!

Steve.

Totally agree with you steve, put the camera's in the towns and near school's also agree with the 20mph limit near school's as well.Would like to see the dual speed limit thing introduced as on the continent but as discussed in previous posts this country ain't ready for it due to bad driver training.

As for the speed bumps local council a bit ago decided to put one at either end of my street, they was the type that blocked one side off and gave priority one way.You had no choice but to go over it also the inner rim of your alloys scraped on the bump and just as i thought i was over it i ripped the back skirt off  The speed bumps have since been changed due to complaints and have sent the bill to the council for repairs but not very hopefull of getting out from them.

Displaying an insurance disc is a good idead I've already got the tax disc and the little blue mot sticker imn both my cars why not insurance too that way the plod will be able to see those cars that aren't insured .

I dont know how it would work with Trade policies like mine tho

It was cheaper to get a tradex policy than it was to insure my 78 corolla cuz its modded and an import

Whats the matter with beige cars my first escort was beige and it was most amusing watching peoples faces when i blew past them in a beige escort with a 2litre stuffed in it

I think a insurance type tax disc would be superb idea with larger penalties for car's not displaying the insurance disc....

Get the idiots driving around without it off the road !!
