Hi all, i'm new to this forum. I have a 93 corolla 1.6 and i have noticed that it uses a lot of oil. I have been doing sme research on the net and it says that on this model, the valve stem oil seals can go at about 100, 000 miles, could anybody verify this??

It's true. My '93 Corolla 1.8 (7A-FE, versus 4A-FE 1.6) also burns a fair amount of oil, yet did well with compression and leakdown test. Considering the cost of having the valve stem oil seals replaced (that's something beyond my expertise), I'll deal with the bit of oil smoke the car lets out for a few seconds after tickover. Currently, it only burns about 1 litre between 3000 and 5000 miles. I forgot to mention, it has 150,000 miles on it now, and otherwise shows no signs of stopping.
