Diff Help Needed

Hi

I have a 95 supra RZ (UK SPEC) which has developed a noisy drive train. The noise, more like a resonance occurs when doing 70mph+ on motorway journys. I assumed it to be the prop shaft centre bearing ware, so I took it to a Toyota garage where they believe it is excess play in the diff its self. The Toyota garage confirms that it is not the sort of job they would carry out unless it is just to replace the unit with a new one!!!. I inspected the play with them and agree it appears to be excessive play.

The Questions.

Does anyone know of a compitant company who will be able to make a better judgment on the fault, and be able to carry out a rebiuld on the exisiting diff?,.

Does anyone know where there is a LSDiff for a Manual 6 speed supra for sale which is in good knick and or has known history.

Does anyone know or have had a similar problem?

Is the auto LSDiff the same as the Manual LSDiff?

If anyone could shed some light on the issue it would be apprieciated.

THANKS

Be careful, an RZ is not a UK spec car, and vice versa. This is pretty important when it comes to looking for a replacement diff as UK and Jap spec diff's are different.

I would recommend Chris Wilson in Shropshire as he would be able to handle this with no problems and no bull$hit.

No, they are not. Apart from different ratios they are physically different sizes and you need a slightly longer\shorter drive shaft on one side.

As i mentioned above, if you are looking for a replacement diff make sure it comes from the same market as your own car, ie. JDM or UK.

Good Luck!

Thanks chaps, all this is very help full.

There are some good condition diffs on eBay in the US and was wonder if it was even worth consdiering. Thanks for the details of people/companys who will be able to undertake this job.

I was wondering about the RZ model being associated to the jap cars, now I know.
