help needed i had my downpipe and manual boost controlled fitted along with my fcd today but they said they won't set the boost for me as if anything goes wrong i could blame them so i had a quick go at trying it tonight and i can't do it the boost is just going far to high its shoots up to 1.5 bar before you realise so i need help to set it to a bar as i don't wanna blow the car up

manual boost controller and fcd brought from tb developments

he said to me on the manual boost controller that when its right the way out its on its lowest setting but it shot straight upto a 1.5 bar and so i wound it in as far as i could with my fingers as he said you won't need to use an allen key but it still done the same thing has a fiddle with the fcd srew still the same any suggestions

ps if anyone near essex wants to sort it for me for a price i will pay if they can get it done on saturday

you need to unscrew it completly out (make sure you dont lose the spring) and then screw it back in (and lock it with the lock nuts). Only need to turn in a couple of threads to reach 1bar i think

Unscrew the adjuster all the way out. Then turn it back in half a turn. Lock it off and test it.

From there, turn it quarter of a turn at a time until you reach the desired amount of boost.

Blood,

yep blood sounds perfectly normal mate. Once you get the downpipe fitted the turbo might be able to hold the boost up for a little bit longer

Hang on...

Which way round have you got the valve on? The long side should go to the turbo, and the "T" piece should go to the actuator.

Check it and get back to me.

yeah thats the way it is the pipe directly opposite the adjusting bolt goes to the turbo and the pipe which is at the bottom of the t peace goes down towards the the back of the engine somewhere which i presume is the actuator

any suggestions then

Its possible for it to be faulty, but rare snce its such a simple design. Did you remember to block the other pipe coming from the wastegate? (the one that goes to the vsv)

some one else has had a look at the boost controller and they blocked some pipe they said now it gets to a bar of boost but doesn't hold it and just drops back to the amount of boost i had before all this was fitted

also the turbo doesn't kick in till 4500 revs so what is up with it is there any toyota specialist tuners who can sort this for me i just want my car boosting properly :crybaby:

hmmm sounds like a weak actuator, same problem that Jim had I think. The actuator arm is opening to early and allowing exhaust gases to bypass the turbo too early, go get it checked out at a garage!
