De-cat Pipe

I'm thinking of getting a powerflow de-cat pipe for my N/A. The main reasons are 1) I'd like the exhaust to pop more and 2) To help it rev more freely. My 106 GTI responded very well to a de-cat. Just wondering what kind of price I'm looking at and also whether I need to keep the original cat for the MOT which is due in May. Mine is a K reg 1993 import. Cheers.

£200+ for a good quality one.

There in a arkward position so manufactures use it as an excuse to bunk up the price.

"93 was the year when the law about emissions came into practice, whether because it's a K plate makes yours exempt, i dont know. but basically yeah you might need to keep the cat

powerflow wanted to do a decat for my mr2 before they went crap with new staff

they qouted me £40, i decided against it for the downpipe reason this year.

Should be around about £40 - 100 at powerflow

them quotes are for tubbys, should be able to get an off the shelf job for 60 quid, dont think you'll need to put the cat back on unless it fails emmissions
