Model Kit Of Ke 70 4 Door Saloon (i Think)

Question?

On eBay I bought this model kit (To go with my small collection of model Toyotas):

Its a KE70 4DR Saloon, but as can be seen is badged as a 1600GT.

Looking at my Toyota sales brochures from 1982 the sports models/GT Models are 'Coupe's such as the SR, all 4 DR Saloons/Sedans are standard engines. Was this model of 4dr ('Sporty') Saloon for Home market (only)?

Just curious thats all about 'History' of what version model kit is depicting

Well,

In america and japan the saloon came as the 1.6 and 1.8 engines, the same as the coupe. I think we only got the 1.3 and 1.6 here. But certainly in this country the saloon's and the wagons of the 70 series were very basic, only the coupe and liftback were well decked.

The GT Badge is a rairity. I'd guess that it is is japan only, 1600cc with alloys. centre console, 4 Speakers that kinda thing. The GT 1600cc engine would be the 2TG i think, with double carbs, rack and pinon steering, front discs, velour seats.

They were awseome cars, loads of people in Australia and New Zealand still do em up, putting 4agze's and 4age 20v in em. pretty difficult job. Ive also seen an ae-101 dash put into a ke70. dunno how they did it, crazy.

In Germany we got the TE71 as Sedan with GL Trim, but only withe the 2T-engine.

But in other Countries all other engines were built in there: 2T, 3T-C, 2T-G, 2T-GE, 1C, 3A, 4A...
