 *blush*, how did I manage that .. I drive so sensible ..

So it's a wad of cash to Rogue for a new 'box and then get Millway to fit it.

I've a feeling I'll be driving a courtesy Yaris for a little bit longer .. :(

Posted

ouch! how'd you do that?

gonna be pricey??

Posted

pulled off a M'way at speed, knocked it into 4th, under took 2 cars down the slip road, into 3rd *BANG*, into 2nd, round the round about then into 3rd and 4th down country lanes.

Couldn't tell what the noise was. then couldn't get the car into reverse or 5th ..

Linkages are fine, the 'box itself is knackered.

Good condition, low miler - £300 + vat and delivery (thanks to Rogue).

Ouch man

The millway boys will sort it

Millway have done the rest of the work .. so should be all okay ..

I want the bit that broke .. as a paper weight ..

First "proper" thing I've broken on it in 3 years ..

Posted

there not the strongest of things are they

I've broke quite afew so far. once in anger with "women" troubles. lol

I've slowly learnt to be gentle with the box now, as it's nothing like my "dog box" on the peugeot. lol

thought about getting a full custom dog box (and seeing if a 6th gear could be added).

but I know no-one who would do it ..

bibbs if you want the broken bit as a paper weight ill send you one (ive got 2 now) typical rev 2 box faliure . what happens is the third fourth synchro ring shatters so you get frive in first, second and sometimes fifth. happend twice at the pod to me drove back to notts both times.

only long term solution is a rev 3 box or an expensive dog box

I lost 5th and Reverse .. the linkage would move right, but then not up or down.

I'd love a dog box .. but I'm not made of money ..

Yeah, mine's a bit dodgy. Whenever I change down into 3rd it crunches. All other gears seem okay.

How long you of the road for??

if its crunching then itll proll be ok for a while my current box as been crunching for a good old while now.

the reason you cant get reverse or sometimes fifth is cos the broken bits of syncro are wedging the selector forks.

priced the bits up think they came to about 180 quid so im putting ST-205 internals in mine and swaping the diff.

my experiance shows they usualy go without warning. both times mine went it was just like a missed shift!!!
