hi

i've takin my dads avensis x reg 1.8 vvti upto 125 and the engine was doin 5000rpm in 5th now if that limits at 5500rpm even tho both cars have a red line of 6200rpm in 5th like my corolla 1.4 vvt-i does i should think it will do about 130ish.

The car felt happy enough doin that spped the engine never felt or sounded stressed did put a dent in the mpg tho went down to 31mpg from 40mpg.

Bouncing of the redline i got the 7a-fe to 144mph on the speedo but only as a guess it was more like 132 in reality

Millway sports could have got me 220bhp for 6K but i deciced to go for the 3s-gte conversion as i have bigger plan's ;)

Forgive my asking, but where do you folks find a road long enough to find out these speeds? Round here any long straight is crawling with cameras and jam butty men. :)

I put mine above 110 mph briefly the other week as I came down the M3 - you know how it is, a few 'slow' drivers block your path, clear road in front, right foot suddenly gets very heavy :D

Absolutely no problems from the car - felt like it could keep on climbing up to the red line, and handling was good. Turned off the the consumption information as it started to drop fast!!

My maximum is 125mph running on LPG. The rev counter showed around 5500 rpm. It is a 3S-FE so called non-VVTi 2.0 engine Avensis but I found the gear ratio quite high. It could do with 6 speed or lower ratio on 5th. Perhaps these things have changed on current models.

1ZZ-FE seems a lot livelier engine than 3S-FE which I got on mine. Mine was struggling at 125mph.

I had 1ZZ-FE Avensis GS once as a hire car and that was very pleasant to drive. My current 3S-FE is OK but I suppose VVTi makes it more responsive.
